Napier High was a long established high school that sat beautifully nestled on three sides by the lovely Maple Park and opened out onto the main road of Napier. The morning's crisp air was cold, damp, and relentless as it blew across the front gates of Fern Park and onto the small streets that were lined by the ancient park's boundaries of maple and small flowering shrubs. It was mid autumn and as per each year the Maple trees had started to lose their leaves, which were now being scattered across the park, giving it a lovely coating of red and green foliage which really did make it feel like autumn.
