Napier High was a long established high school that sat beautifully nestled on three sides by the lovely Maple Park and opened out onto the main road of Napier. The only other noise on the deserted streets was the rhythmic tapping of his foot-steps, each echo hovering in the air as a reminder of the loneliness which surrounded them. He could hear his own heart beat slowing as he travelled alone in the shadows of the colossal structures, which arose from the ground to tower high above all. He looked up, the pale lifeless slate followed coldly upwards, reaching towards the sky, as if to reach for the sun, to reach far beyond this world and far beyond the shadows. He reached up; palm open, longing to reach the light to feel the soft caressing fingers of peace. His steps slowed as he struggled to move on, but if he didnt then this world would leave him behind.
